DECEMBER 4th 2008 MEETING
The next meeting of the Chicago Area Informix Users Group will be on Thursday, DECEMBER 8th at
71 S Wacker Drive CHICAGO IL
Greetings CHIUG Members!
I hope your Fall season is going well, and that you got more
treats than tricks on Halloween! Information on Demand was
awesome again this year. I hope you were able to make it. If you
were not able to attend, we are going to bring a little bit of
IOD back to Chicago for you.
The next Chicago Area Informix User Group meeting will be on
Thursday, December 4th. We plan on having another hands on lab
this session, so we will need to have the meeting at the Chicago
TEC again, at 71 S. Wacker Drive.
So, straight from a smashing engagement in Las Vegas for IOD 2008,
we have Dick Snoke of Informix fame presenting. Dick is a Data
Management specialist working with IBM software partners. He has
36 years experience in software with Univac, Data General,
Informix and IBM. In that time Dick has developed, benchmarked,
supported and sold all sorts of software from mainframe operating
systems to transaction monitors to a number of DBMS's, not
all relational. Dick joined IBM as part of the Informix acquistion,
and he has spent his time at IBM helping partners exploit the
world's best DBMS products.
Dick will be presenting two of his most recent productions:
"Sys* for Smarties (*= master, admin, utils or users), and
"The SQL Trace facility".
In addition to Dick's presentations, we will also have one of the
highly rated Hands on Labs from IOD, "Extending your Business
Logic with OpenAdmin Tool for IDS".
So, here is the agenda:
- 8:30 - 9:00 Continental Breakfast
- 9:00 - 10:15 Sys* for Smarties - Dick Snoke
- 10:15 - 10:30 Break
- 10:30 - 11:45 SQL Trace Facility - Dick Snoke
- 11:45 - 1:00 Lunch
- 1:00 - 2:15 OAT Hands on Lab - Rob Beal
- 2:15 - 2:30 Break
- 2:30 - 3:45 Hands on Lab continued
This event will be held at the Chicago Technical Exploration
Center at 71 S. Wacker Driver in Chicago. The TEC is on the
6th floor, and the meeting will be held in the 'Root' room or #6605.
A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge.
Please note that, once again due to the need for resources
for the lab, the meeting will be held in downtown Chicago and
NOT in Schaumburg.
